Dell Insipron 600m - cpu upgrade

Just a quick question.

Anyone know if the banias cpu inside is upgradable to the sonoma (533MHz fsb)?

Thank you 🙂

You mean a Dothan-cored Pentium M.

You can only upgrade to another 400MHz FSB Pentium M. I believe there were a few models of Dothan processors with the 400MHz FSB made.

I upgraded my 600m to a Dothan Pentium M. It worked fine but don't expect the fsb to increase if you get a chip with a faster one. The faster fsb chips work fine but it reduced the speed to what it would be with that fsb.

no, the chipset is 845, not 915. if it was 915, u could just do a pin mod to up the fsb from 400 to 533 mhz giving u an easy 33% oc without any voltage bump.
highest banias is 1.7 and highest 400mhz dothan is 2.1 (model #s 715 - 765 = 1.5 - 2.1ghz)
i see 2.1ghz 765 going for $120, 2ghz 755 going for $90 and 1.8ghz 745 for a bit less on ebay.
but at those prices, u might as well wait for a $350 laptop deal to come around and hop on it. the tech will be much faster, even if it were going up against a 2.1ghz dothan pin modded to 2.8ghz.
