Dell/HP/Samsung 30" LCD
Pros - Very high resolution
Cons - Requires a ton of horsepower to run current games - 16:10 aspect ratio - Black levels
Comments: I don't like 16:10, and it seems all PC LCD's are 16:10, and not 16:9. I dislike this very much... But, I can live with it *if* these 30" displays can scale well. Can anyone comment on how well the Dell, HP or Samsung scales in non native resolution?
Sharp LCD-TV 32/37"
Pros - Good resolution - 16:9 aspect ratio - doesn't require a ton of horsepower - Size - Good blacks
Cons - Lower resolution - Potential dynamic contrast Issue.
Comments: I am leaning towards the LCD-TV because it requires less horsepower, but is still great resolution, has awesome blacks, is 16:9, is larger and is actually a tad cheaper... But, is there something I am missing? An oversight?
Difficult to decide, but a lot of it depends on how well the PC 30" can scale to non-native resolutions...
OR, should I just wait for a while? I don't need this set today, this minute... I can't wait months or even a year if needed... But I don't want to wait if there isn't anything better around the corner... My current display is fine, I like it, it looks great, but I am ready to make the next jump in resolution.
