I have always been a fan of Dell cases. I agree, this is a really nice one if you're going to leave it the way it is. (Very nice for corporate use, or second home system). Not enough room for upgrades for a lot of people, however. I like the fact that it has onboard USB2.0 and gigabit ethernet though.

That's how I felt when one arrived on my door. Excellent design. Period. Love the big ol' air scoop inside. :D

they may be quiet, but Dell took a big, steaming dump on the ATX standard....which makes trying to upgrade/repair Dell's a complete pain in the butt. that's the main reason i really don't like Dell's (i also don't like how they only advertise the processor that is in the system, completely disregarding the crappy other components in the system, but all the big PC makers do it, so i can't really fault them for that).

I've played with a few Precision and optiplex workstations at work just for fun :D I wanted to poke around i n it and see what it was like inside. Very nice cases and easy to use and get around in. Obviously their cases are not totally standard ATX, but they are quite and quality inside.

I prefer the ATX case with the button on the front that pops open the side panel and half of the top panel. It's amazing how long they've kept that one design and made only small adaptations for so many of their various systems.

Still...the design to beat is Apple's completely drop open and reveal all with easy access :) I'm kinda tempted to get one of those empty cases on ebay and do a case mod :p

I prefer standard microATX cases. They're just the right size, not too big, not too small for a desktop. And if the moboard has audio and LAN integrated (that is a must for a mATX one, IMO), there is plenty of expansion space left (2-3 PCI slots).

Bah, Dell cases are annoying. Main reason is that each new version has some funky way of opening it. Buttons on the side, then buttons on the front, then thumb screws here or there. Come on, find one way and stick with it.

Not to mention all the weird way drive bays and expansion cards are put into the system.

But the one you pointed to is a Small Form Factor that would compete with something like the Shuttle Barebones series. Now those are nice cases.

there was one here at work they hadn't locked down so i popped it open, one of the new mini-towers. the way the cables are all routed so they're out of the way is really nice, looks like the airflow is great inside there.

was thinking about getting one of these deals recently and doing a window mod to it, but that would be a pain in the arse cutting through the metal and the plastic.
