Is this a rebadged Samsung 181T like the 1900fp is a rebadged Samsung 191T? For that matter, does anyone know who makes the 2000fp? Right now, I'm thinking 1900fp, and I'm waiting for a good deal on it.

I got this monitor back when it was $426, and have been very happy with it (except for the poor Dell support on needing to Flash the bios on a Ti500).

It's a rebadged LG, not Samsung. Also picked this up when it was $426. Good monitor for the price.

I ordered this last week for $475 shipped -- It shipped Airborne yesterday and will be here on Thursday. I'd also like to know... who makes the 1900FP and 2000FP panels?

The 1900fp is widely believed to be a rebadged Samsung 191T, except for a few features, principally the rotating display. The screen itself is obtained from Samsung and is the same as the 191T's.

The reason I don't think I want the 20" isn't the money, it's the fact that the native res on the 2000fp is 1600 x 1200. That's OK for some stuff, but I think it's too high for web browsing. I don't have experience with LCD's, so if someone disagrees, please say so. They'll get no arguments from me. I figure that 1280 x 1028, the native res for the 1900fp, will be acceptable (and better) for everyday use including web browsing.

That's one of the main reasons I purchased the Dell 1900FP (1280x1024) and it's been PERFECT so far.

I'll never go back to a CRT.

RossMAN, does the 1900FP have a manual input select button on the front? I can't tell from the pictures, and I don't want to buy one if you need to go into the menu to switch inputs.
Thanks, Rick

I thought that too until I got the 2000fp. I'd say the first day was awkward at 1600x1200, but now it looks perfectly natural. In fact, I can't really imagine trying to use it at a lower resolution.

Um wow ... long time ago. About a week after ordering. Sounds like you need to get on the horn with Dell.

I bought a new NEC FP2141SB 22" (20.1 viewable) CRT and have had it around a month. I have two systems and want a big LCD for the other. The recommended res on the NEC is 1600 x 1200 85 Hz, and I started with that but found that 1280 x 1024 is better for browsing the WWW and maybe some applications and that's what I'm using right now. I have both systems set up on the NEC, but that's only temporary. What I'm wondering is if I will find the 1600 x 1200 better enough on the on the 2000fp to be satisfied with that. I know that small text (or any text) is a LOT sharper (or should be!) on an LCD.

Another question: who actually manufactures the 2000fp? Thanks.

the 18 in lcd is an lg
the 20 in lcd is an acer!!!!
the 1900fp is a samsumg 191t----a fact indeed!
:)

compared to the 19in, the 18 and 20 in are of poor quality..that's why they are always on sale! I have seen them three next to each other, and the difference at least to my eyes was significant!!! I spent more money for the 1900fp as it is a samsung! The 18in had the worst quality, but again, if you don't see them all at once, i dont think you can tell the difference...
the 1900fp is a beauty so far!

I dont know where people are coming up with the bad ghosting on the 1900FP, I used the 191T same thing on a bunch of demo games and saw no ghosting, I have a Diamondtron NF 19 CRT and the 191T LCD looks alot better, Im sure there is some ghosting in some games though but if games are your main interest I see no reason to even use a LCD at all.

The 1800FP sucks with TrueType. It seems to be a GRB monitor; at least, selecting this gets great looking fonts for normal sized fonts Works great for normal size fonts, but small fonts look bad - vertical close together (e.g. i, l, l in "million") look red. I got mine for $426, but it's going back for this reason (I've emailed Dell 6 times so far, but still no RMA - another story...).

Search the Dell boards for people complaining of this - example.

A lot of forums say that it has bad ghosting.. including Ars-Technica, I think.
