Dell Home - can you add coupons after the fact?

I found a coupon that I could use, and I called them up to add it to my order, but they said the only way to be able to do it is to cancel the order and re-place the order which would push my delivery date back (this is for a Dell 1901FP that appears to be on backorder now)

I heard of people being able to do it....Do I need to call a special number or something?
 
Those people who were able to do it just had their order cancelled and re-ordered (most likely on items in stock and ready to ship therefore not affecting delivery date).

If it's a substantial savings, ask yourself would you rather save $xx or wait an extra few weeks? I'd rather save the $xx but then again I'm a tight ass.
