I bought two Dell GX150 computers from my work. Both currently have 800mhz Celerons. I want to upgrade both a little bit as one will be a temporary web server until I can get the main server built. So far I can't find anywhere the max processor speed these can take. I found mention of one unit having a 1.1ghz P3 in them so that is my goal. I asume they can't run Tualatin due to the era they came out in. All I know at the moment it is a 133mhz FSB. Here is the web site on the unit itself.

If they support 133fsb, then you can get a 133fsb P3 up to 1ghz, otherwise you're looking at 100fsb P3s, and without knowing about BIOS updates, it's possible you'll be limited to 800mhz (there were a number of boards that either never, or only with updates supported the last few speed grades). Don't bother upgrading the processor unless you find one for free, or have a very specific need for not much more performance.

You actually may be able to run a Tualatin CPU.
You can just buy a 1GHz P3 coppermine to play it safe. They are much more abundant than the Tualatins.

Negative on the Tually support. The GX150 has the 815E original stepping, and doesn't have the ability to properly support the Tualatin voltages. You could get a piggyback socket adaptor - but given the annoyance factor of all that, Blain has the right idea. Go with a large supply of 1GHz P3s.

Some linked me right to the chipset page:
http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/embedded/273428.htm

Acording to it, I can even run 1.26ghz processors and above. Thing is, I wonder how much Dell limited the chipset with their BIOS. I wish there was an easy way to ask Dell this question but it's more seems like a headach to ask questions like this.

edit: Also found one of the units had a 1100mhz Celeron. So that answers my question somewhat right there. I thought they were both 800mhz, Nice surprise.

Would I see any difference in operation if I made the jump from a 1100mhz Celeron to a 1000mhz P3 coppermine for a web server? Also what was the fastest coppermine out there? I heard mentioned of the redesigned 1.133ghz ones but can't find them for sale anywhere.
