Dell GDG8Y (Inspiron 620/Vostro 260) motherboard issue

I replaced the motherboard in a Inspiron 620 that had an issue of powering on.
If left unplugged for a few minutes it could be plugged back in and usually it would fire up although I would have to hold the power button in for 3 or 4 seconds.
After googling the issue apparently this is a fairly comon problem with the Dell Vostro 260 and Inspiron 620 which use the same motherboard P/N GDG8Y.

Anyways I fixed the problem by replacing the motherboard.

Is there anyway to fix the old board? what do you all think is likely the problem?
None of the caps appear blown.
Do you think it might be something in the voltage regulator circuit on the motherboard like a bad mosfet or ?

I know its not worth messing with but the geek in me wants to try lol

thanks

Failing or failed components do not always show physical signs such as split cases, leaking material, bulging, discoloration etc.

Most failures are due to capacitors, but sometimes semiconductors fail also.

Problem most likely to be the voltage regulator modules. You could try replacing capacitors and FETs in and around the VRM.
