Dell Fan Size

What is the size of the exhaust fan on the Dell Dimension 4500? I wanted to buy a replacement exhaust fan that didn't have a temperature sensor, and is quieter than the rickity one i've got now. System

If you already have it, get out the ruler Even if you dont want to open it up you should be able to work it out from outside.
Else, I'd assume it would be 80mm. I thought Dell used super duper quieter-than-panaflo NMB fans, not seen a temp sensing one - though I dont exactly pay a lot of attention to Dell PCs.

Sorry bout the link, ok, I got an 80mm fan, not only did the connector not work DOH! but the fan didn't fit the sheathe properly, it was too small. So what I need here is a fan with a 4 pin psu connector. I ripped the sticker off my original Dell exhaust fan, and it reads as follows: NMB, model 3612kl-04w-b66, 12v --- DC 0.68A, DC Brushless fan motor. Could the fan be a 92mm? And another question, is there such thing as a 90mm fan? I don't wanna buy the wrong fan... AGAIN!

it's a 92mm temperature controlled fan with a proprietary dell connector to the MB.

have the exact same fan in my 400sc.

if you unhook the stock fan and replace it with one that plugs into a molex, you're gonna have issues at boot time with a 'cpu fan failed' message. you can ignore it, but you should know in advance.

the NMB is a pretty good fan, if a little loud....go over to the 400sc unoffical FAQ (google it) and you'll find tons of answers regarding dells. most of them use similar if not identical components.

I just got finished setting up my grandparents' new Dell OptiPlex system, and it had a SensFlow-branded fan that says it is made by Delta Electronics. That is one excellent computer. I've never even seen a 2.8GHz processor before, but it was excellent.

heh, Delta are more famous for their screamers & foccused flow fans, mega airflow fans for deaf people to be abnoxious to the neighbours with [edit: things like these (.pdf)]. Meant to be VERY high quality though, so I wonder if they're pretty damn quiet when at normal or low rpm speeds (I imagine Dell have a lot of interest in fan reliability and reasonable noise level).
