That is a pretty good deal for a 22" widescreen and I've always had respect for Dell LCD's... idk if I could replace my 19" dual setup though with one or two of those... hmmm....

For a full screen 22" yes, but a widescreen is not as tall as a full screen. You gain in width, but lose in height.

If anyone is able to stack a coupon on this deal let us know.

I thought about going with the 22" but I already have the 2001fp so I would actually lose some height. Don't really want to do that.

good deal -- fyi i think Dell also has refurb 2007WFP LCDs for $299

Just got the 2007fp (not widescreen) for work and it seems so much nicer than my 2001fp at home.

Now if I could just find a good deal on the 2407.

Coupons will stack without problems. Dell just sent another 10% out recently with a Vista upgrade letter and all the Dell coupons explicitly say you're welcome to use them with existing offers, just not with other coupons. Sale prices are existing offers.

As for resolutions, yes, 1680x1050 is a bit small on a 22" panel. A panel this size could definitely use a slightly higher resolution, there just isn't any supported between 1680 and 1920. What you end up with is higher pixel pitch and lower pixel density compared to a 19"-21" panel running the same resolution. To some, this will make text and graphics look unbearably pixelated and grainy.

The panel itself is an incredible bargain for @310 shipped including tax, however, this is definitely an entry-level panel. Its perfect for first-time LCD owners and people on a strict budget who want size, brightness and fast response times for games. I wouldn't recommend this monitor to people who have owned an LCD prior or have access to better panels.

Its a TN panel, so viewing angles and color reproduction/accuracy are poor. There's also significant backlight bleeding at the top and bottom that seems characteristic of the entire line, not just from panel to panel. No extra HD inputs although I do believe its HDCP capable. If these are things that will bother you, you should save yourself the hassle of dealing with Dell's return labyrinth and long return credit times and just look for a nicer panel (20" or 24").

I'm still waiting for my credit back from Dell; I returned this panel about a month ago. Oh and ya, Dell Home/Business charges tax anywhere they have a Kiosk. They also apparently charge restocking based on state/region, so that may be something to ask up front if you're not sure if this panel is for you but want to give it a try. I'd recommend going to a Dell Kiosk and looking at the panel in-person but amazingly they didn't have any of the 22" on display as of a month ago.....

I have a 2005FPW at work and a 19" Samsung CRT at home. I've had the CRT for about 7 years or so. The text is starting to get a little blury, or maybe I'm just used to the LCD at work. Should I go with the 2007WFP instead of this one?

Not very well, it lacks the inputs and capability to do 1920x1080 (Full HD) with a fixed ratio at 1:1. If you're looking for something like that you'd want to look at the 24"-27" options that have multiple AV inputs like HDMI, Component, S-Video, VGA, and DVI. The 24" options are 2-2.5x as much but offer Full HD along with the multiple inputs. The BenQ with firmware update, Gateway out of the box and Dell 2407 Rev. A04 offer the above abilities that make them suitable to double as TVs. If you want to use a tuner card and have everything stretched/interpolated by your video card, then the 22" is fine as a "TV".

Krazy4Real, I don't think you'd be happy with this panel. No one wants to come home from work and look at a worst looking image than the one they've been staring at for 8-10 hours. You'll like the size upgrade and fast response times, but thats about it. You're probably better off going with a 20" or stepping it up a bit to a 24".

What about going with an LCD TV, and using it with a computer? Would the display look good? Those seem to be a lot cheaper than the monitors of the same size.

Games would look pretty good, still nothing like what you'd expect on a smaller LCD. Its similar to what CRT users complain about with LCDs. Even with Full HD (1920x1080), that's lower resolution than a 24" LCD on a potentially much larger panel. Its similar to what I mentioned in terms of 1680x1050 on a 22" panel except the difference will be much more profound comparing a 24" screen to a 40"+ panel. Basically you have the same number of pixels covering a much larger area. The consequence is 1) larger pixels and 2) more space between pixels. Again, for games not such a big deal if you sit at a proper viewing distance, but in terms of typical desktop usage, text will look pretty bad and for many, unsuitable.

I would like to find a monitor for two main uses:
1. as a bigger screen for my Macbook (13.3 inch)
2. as a screen for playing the Wii. The distance between myself and the screen would be less than 6 feet. Which I think a 22 inch monitor would be good enough.

Optional:
it would be good to have it be used as a TV but that is not necessary at this point.

Is this Dell monitor good enough for what I need it to do? Or can I get one that would be good enough but for a cheaper price? It would be nice if it comes with all the connectors that I need to hook up the Wii.
