Anybody have any recommendations or experience on these two. I have an offer for the Dell for $190 shipped and perhaps 20-30 cheaper if I pick it up.

The Princeton is $199.99+shipping after rebate from Newegg.com. Both are new of course and I would like to have the option of playing some games but it's used more to save some space and for schoolwork.

The Samsung 172X is $209.99 AR @ NewEgg, excellent gaming monitor and IIRC, Samsung has a 0 dead pixel policy for any monitor purchased after the 1st of this year.

I would stay away from the E173P. Mine has pretty bad viewing angle (since it's a TN panel) and pretty poor contrast, so movies look like crap. It's also got some sort of uneven color with one side of the monitor redder than the other side. The text is not too good either.

Probably the only thing going for it is that like most modern TN panels, it is fast enough to not have noticeable ghosting in games. It is, for instance, much less ghosting prone than a Dell 1905FP.

I'd probably go for that Samsung too for a cheap 17 inch monitor.
