Dell E1705 Good deal?

I know....lot of Dell bashers here, but they have finance options that suit me. Looking at this laptop...never owned one before, but wanting to become more mobile. Feel like I'm in jail sitting here at a desk...so confined. I have a desktop for highend gaming , but I want to be able to game some on this book. I have configured this system and wanting some opinions on it.

E1705 : C2D T5600, XP Media w/ cd, 17"WUXGA+ w/ tru-life, 1GB RAM, X1400 gfx, 80G 5400 HD, integ wireless card, 6 cell batt. = $1237 shipped.

I dislike the bloated crap they put on thier pc's, but I'll deal with it. I know I won't be able to play newer games with candy, but know nothing about mobile gfx. Is this a good deal and can I play games decently?

Are you sure you want a 17" instead of 14-15"? If you haven't seen that size in person you should go into a store before ordering one.

The E1505 is a good deal if you choose the smaller screen. X1400 is better than a 7300 or X1300, but it's still low-end so expect to be playing at 800x600 on anything recent.

I have seen a 17" widescreen. They are large for mobile, but I'm used to using a 24"LCD on my dsktop. Guess I'm spoiled with screen space. I also configured a E1505 with exact same specs & it rang in @ $1088 shipped. So for roughly $150 more I get the 17" screen vs the 15.4" hmm decisions. Thanks Dave.

I have an E1505 and my brother has the 17" XPS. He loves it but it is too big for me.

If you are not moving it around much, the 17" seems like a nice option, but I do not have the room for something like that.

Either way, we are both happy with our Dell's.

Thank y'all for the replies. I ended up ordering the E1505 with all the same specs as I stated above minus the 80GB HD (got the 60GB). Total to my door with tax+shipping=$975. Looking forward 🙂
