Dell drivers - disabling the Dell HW check

I am trying to install the Dell provided Broadcom drivers on an Acer laptop. I cannot get the install program to run since it is not a Dell laptop. I do have the Dell driver installed for the wireless card in the Acer laptop and it works fine. However, I cannot update the wireless utility. Does anyone know if the HW check can be disabled? If not, does anyone know of updated Broadcom drivers that are out that I can install.

It looks like HP has the drivers that I am looking for and I hope they work. Just search for "Broadcom wireless" on their site and download the 6.1 version.

Couldn't you also have just gone to Broadcom's page and just DLed their utility/drivers? Usually they provide universal software

I looked and did not see it there. I only saw drivers for their wired Ethernet controllers. I did not see anything for their wireless chips.
