Dell DJ MP3 Player

I say just get an ipod. Much cooler. I have never had luck with dell, except for one monitor(going on 8 years). Everything else has been rebuilt within a year. People claim ipod batteries have problems, but i havent had one with mine yet. If you do, there are several options. Such as buy from b-buy or compusa and get their warranty since it is possible to get a brand new one if it breaks and they dont carry that model anymore.

it really depends on if you buy any music from itunes/napster/walmart/whatever else service.

i will not get an ipod, i just want to know how this compares

10 gb ipod costs $300
15 gb dell costs $200

i cant justify (or afford) to pay an extra $100 and get 5 gb less

i dont know about the Dell player but i am very pleased with the iPod, i have the 10 gb 2nd gen refurb for 169, it was a good deal ( i am not sure if you still get them)

If it were me, I would wait until the refurb iPods come back into stock.

iPod is #1 for a reason. It may cost a little more, but it is worth it. (to me)

Why would you buy an Ipod when the Dell unit has over double the battery life, costs cheaper, will be just as reliable, you won't have to use apple software to use it (just drag and drop through windows explorer), etc. I agree that the Ipod is great, but it's competitors are like the Borg, they will get better with every new iPod release.

actually i have been waiting for quite some time now for them to get them back (about a month) but nothing doing

looks like a very solid player

The good: Extremely intuitive operation; robust design; long battery life; clean sound; on-the-fly playlist creation; voice recording; in-line remote.
The bad: Battery not replaceable; no display on the remote; no FM tuner or line-in recording; albums don't play in order.

The 'bad' is more like lack of some high end features, rather than anything fundamentally wrong with the player.

"battery not replaceable" is pretty serious since out-of-warranty repair will mean a huge labor cost plus battery cost.

According to Ubersoft.net (where I get all my ipod tech info 😉 ) you can buy third-party ipod batteries for $50 now.

ive heard its actually pretty nice but id still get a Zen

30 gig Zen Xtra 300$
10 gig Ipod 300$
15 gig Dell 200$
30 gig Zen NX 240$

The Zen sounds tempting, but it does look ugly though. Anybody else has any opinions on it, because I am thinking about ordering the Dell when I get back from eating turkey. 🙂
