Looking to upgrade my motherboard in this system fix a problem with being XP compatible, plus i'd like to go to a bigger chip.

Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? Is this a hopeless cause?

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

1. How is it not XP compatible ?

I have several of these.. i'm assuing it's a slot 1 600mhz ?

You can use up to a 850 Mhz P3 cpu... if it's a slot 1

crucial memory works fine.. what problem in xp are you having ?

When running some apps, it hangs for a few seconds, like 15-20, then works fine...

I ran some sort of Dell test, and it says that my motherboard is not compatible with XP.

I wanted to get a new MOBO anyways so that i could put a faster chip in, something over a Ghz.

I just got a computer like that but a dimension xps r450..

even if i fresh install a win98 or winme, it'll pauses and works again...

can't find the problem, i ran the diag whole night before.. i think it's just old and dying..

I ran a few of the xps t500 with XP, it runs fine.. but I think it's just in general, I know some of those were fitted with the aureal sound cards that might cause conflicts...

what other stuff (cards) are in your system..
