Dell Dimension - headphone port rewiring? (electricians chime in)

Got ahold of an old Dell Dimension case - for a total overhaul using off-the-shelf PC parts. Most everything is pretty standard (MicroATX board, ATX PSU, yada yada yada), with the exception of the front headphone port, which uses a special harness - the Dell M1379 harness: (audio jack is the white plug)

It has six wires:

1. Gray
2. Red
3. Orange
4. Yellow
5. Brown
6. Black

This particular system had the harness going directly into the motherboard, although there were some Dell-branded Soundblaster cards with the port on certain models: (upper left - white plug)

Intel has a page on (standard) front audio pinouts here:

AC97 has 5 wires (mic signal, mic power, right audio, 5v power, left audio) as does HD Audio (left mic, right mic, right headphone, jack detection, left headphone). Since this is only a headphone jack (no mic), I have no idea how the Dell 6-wire system translates into an AC97/HDA 5-wire system (really 3 wires - right/left/detect or 5V power).

I don't know if this is a possible mod or not due to the wiring. It's not such a big deal that I'd go out and find a standard wiring harness and rework the hardware, but if it's straightforward wiring deal, then I'd be willing to do that. I don't know enough to say yay or nay on that yet tho. Any ideas? 🙂
