I was wondering if anyone knows if the system board (motherboard) can be replaced and upgraded in the Dimension E510? I want to do some overclocking and such and the stock system boards will not allow it. If this can be done can sombody please recommend a good board and model number?

Thank you!

wonder why can't it be replaced?...just a regular computer with a matx board...i think you can replace it...dell doesn't use special unreplacable motherboards as far as i know...

I just want to make sure that the chip layout is the same as the board in the E510. It has some big fan setup in there so the layout needs to be the same in order to use it. Any recommentations on a good board?

Probably not. You'll just have to measure the dimensions carefully before ordering. I wouldn't change the board unless if fails. Not worth the hassle, plus you'll void your dell warranty. Also, be sure to check the back panel on the e510 case, and see if you can remove it and replace it with a standard backplate. If not, then you're probably going to have to get a new case for a different board.
