Dell Dimension 8300 - Is this a USB Header?

I was looking inside of my Dell Inspiron 8300 case. The motherboard doesn't appear to have any USB headers on it, but the case has front accessible USB ports along with a headphone jack.

It looks like on the inside of the front of the case, there is a little card that has these two usb ports, but also I noticed what looks like a speaker connector as well as what I am hoping is a USB header.

I didn't find anything in the Dell documentation about these connectors and I wanted to see if anyone here knew if the 5-pin was indeed a header and what the pin assignments are.

USB headers are generally blocks of pins, not just a single row. I'd play it safe and buy a USB 2.0 card that has a set of headers on it if you need to connect a card reader or something...

That looks like a CD Audio Header, except it has one too many pins.

Yeah, I was thinking a sound or cd header at first too, but the 5th pin and the lines going to the usb connector below was making me hope it's a USB header.

If not, what the heck else could it be???

Assuming that you have a Dell Dimension 8300 and not an Inspiron 8300, you should find a description of all the connectors here on the Unofficial Dell PowerEdge 400SC FAQ. The 400SC is nearly identical to the Dell 8300. Check the links in the "Case" section of the FAQ.

I just looked. That 4-pin connector is an "External Speaker" connector and the 5-pin connector is an "Intrusion" connector.

Buy a $10 PCI USB 2.0 card or run an extension from one of the eight USB connectors on the rear of the motherboard.
