Dell Dimension 8300 - fail to power on

One day my Dimension 8300 decided to do something weird and enter suspend mode (at least I think so) and it would refuse to power ON.

If I leave the power cable off for 10+ min and try to turn it on, all I see is the amber power LED blinking slowly (once per second or so).

I cannot get it to power on.

I can't even jump-start the power supply by shorting the green wire to ground. Help!

Just something you might want to try...

Remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then reinsert and try powering on again.

A friend of mine had a similar problem such as this with a Dell Precision 360 and removing the CMOS battery fixed his problem.

Be careful about replacing the power supply -- many Dells have rewired connectors and a different brand PS (without an adapter) will fry your mobo.

2. Dell hasn't used non standard ATX Pin out for a while, since 2002

Ever since Asus and MSI start making Dell motherboards and video cards, they became standard.
