My friend's dell got hit by lightning, the last person to touch it was some dumbass computer store guy. I'm trying to salvage parts from it because the computer store guy, being a dumbass and all, probably didn't even test most of the parts when he told her it was completely fried.

Problem is, how the hell do you remove this friggin case?

Its a Dell Dimension 8100, any help please?

I'm pretty sure there is a button somewhere either on the top, back or front of the case that will allow you to crack open the case - literally. It'll open up like a clamshell.

look at the top (back) and the bottom (back) of the case.....press the two big buttons and it will open.

I am not sure what I would trust from a computer that was hit by lightning. Besides most of the components are integrated by default. I guess you can take the CPU/Mem, drives, modem(if any), sound card (if any) and video card (if any). Caution, I have seen eliectrified components cause more damage afterwards as well. Good luck.
