Yea, but better than onboard video.[/quote]
Exactly, 5200 is junk but that makes sure you get an agp slot for future upgrade!

What am I missing? Every time I try to configure a system, it says there are no MIRs available. Where did you get the $150 one?

Go HERE for the deal.

You can add a 9800pro for $140, not bad.

I added the 9800pro and the floppy, and it came to 779, plus TN sales tax for me, $851, minus $150 MIR, $701 total. Not bad for a 2.8ghz system with 512MB ram plus a 9800pro. My brother may be interested in this.

You'll notice a slowdown if you're using processor-intensive applications (i.e. video editing, PS, etc.)

I believe Dell is trying to clear out the 4600's to make room for the 4700's (?).

Last month I caught this when it also had the 50% off an LCD upgrade. Same config with a 17 inch ultrasharp came to around 770 AR - and they were throwing in the enhanced keyboard.

As for the performance issue, it is a hit dropping down to 533 on the FSB, a shame, especially since the processor is capable of it. It seems they are trying to use up their remaining stock of older 533 mobos, hence these "outrageous deals".

If you can wait, they will likely be terminating the 4600 line altogether since the 4700 has come out, and my guess is that you will be able to pick up a similarly configured 4600 with the 800mhz bus in a few months at a similar price.

I picked up a 4600 a few months back for ~$500 AR (P4 3.0 HT, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB HD, etc). I (stupidly) ordered a 3.06Ghz 533 MHz FSB CPU, but they sent a 3.0 800 Mhz FSB CPU (atleast that's what the BIOS shows)... really surprised me.

4600 has a 865 chipset versus the 400sc which has a 875 chipset. The 400sc is is more upgradable and is a larger case. Both are great units but the 400sc is more of a build it yourself unit in terms of desktop offerings from Dell.(It is actually sold as a server) The board in the 4600 will support a 800 FSB processor, however in this deal it is equipped with a 533 FSB processor. I haved owned both and ended up keeping my 400sc and passing off the 4600 to a family member.

So, it is 12+ hours later, and I can't seem to find this on DELL's small business pages, and since there was no link provided, there's no way to find out whether what I found compares. I couldn't find any Dimension 4600's with a mail in rebate; the best I found was 15% off and a free upgrade to an 80gb disk. No deal on memory. Could you _please_ post a link in the future. I suspect this deal is history.
