Dell Dimension 4550 Ram Upgrade Problem

My friend has a dell dimension 4550 with a P4 2.53 GHz processor and 256 mb of PC 2700 ram and I bought a 512 mb stick of Kingston PC 2700 ram. I installed it in the second slot turned on the computer and it didn?t recognize the stick of 512mb ram. Then I took out the stick of 256 and just put in the stick of 512 and it failed POST. I tried putting the ram the slots in all combinations. I don?t know why it?s not working? Faulty Memory? Incompatibility? Any answers would be much appreciated.

Best Value ram!!!Thks AT, they schooled me! link below

I have a 4550 or two at the office, i use one for torrents, other dont know. My pt is, evryone talks bout comp with dell, i have put kingston pc3200 and 2700 in the 4550 also kbyte. ALL recognized np and passed mem test. You must have a bad stick. Only issue i recall is, the sys wont take more then 1 gig.

Btw, since u popped it out is like dell says Samsung, mine was. Let me know.

I would pop that 512 stick into another sys and see. My Gut tells me bad stick of ram.
