My Dell's motherboard died. Here are the specs.

P4 2.0 Ghz
512 meg ram one chip
40 gig hard drive
Geoforce 4
CDROM
DVD Burner

I want to repair it but am not sure what to do.

Here is what I have so far. I think this would be all I needed.

I wonder if I should just get the newer 775 cpu and a different mobo?

Suggestions?

take it it is past its warranty :p? Hmm, you are buying a motherboard for the dell... well, i think you would also need a new power supply, as dells motherboard and psus are not standard. It would be easier to suggest if you had posted a budget though :/

Yes I am replacing the motherboard. That is why I included a new case and PSU. I really don't have a budget ready. I wondered if going 775 was a better idea because I could upgrade latter.

Oh.. lol sorry i didnt read the entire thread properly.. I thought those three links were to intel motherboards. Well hey, if you are going to upgrade the cpu and moterboard, why not dump intel and get an athlon64 motherboard with perhaps a 3000+ winchester cpu! Much better :p. Also i would not personally go for that psu, generic pos  get an antec sonata or antec sx1040bII, both have decent psus in them already.

No real suggestions here as I'm an AMD Fanboi, but I just wanted to say I was a proud owner of the Coolmax and it's a very nice PSU. They run super silent and my rails were rock solid stable no matter what the load I threw at it.

A second vote for the Antec Sonata w/ 380W power supply included. The Antec 380W power supply that comes with the Sonata has 24A on the 12V rail. This power supply is better quality and stronger than the one you linked to at Newegg.
