Looks very nice. It says it is for small businesses but I am sure it is OK for household purposes also?

Better change the title. $419 for a 2.66MHz processor is not hot at all...

:D

Wow... this is a pretty sick deal. It's normally this price for e2220, 1gb, 80gb hd and 20" analog lcd. Now, it's e7300 (pretty sweet cpu that can oc to 4ghz if the motherboard allows it), 2gb ram, 250gb hd and 20" ultrasharp. Just those 4 parts are worth nearly $400.

It most likely does but PSU is weak (probably a 300W with something like 18A on 12V rail). You could get a 9600gt or 4670 though. Motherboard may also limit overclocking potential so that e7300 might be kind of a waste in that system (will probably still make 3.2ghz though, which should be just fine with most games).
But it's not uncommon knowledge that a cheap Dell + high-end gpu = good budget gaming system. People were adding 8800gt to the $700 q6600 + 24" deals of the past because some systems actually were bundled with decent power supplies with dual 12V rails.

Blurry and Jasonconder were simply making jokes about the fact that you wrote 2.66 MHZ instead of GHZ and not about the deal itself

BTW it is pretty hot

This is a good deal. Free shipping at $500 (or is it $499).

I got up to 500 even by selecting Vista Home Premium, 19 in 1 card reader, cheap 20 dollars speakers, and made Dell plant a tree (bumped it from 498 to 500).

530 after tax. It was going to be about 480 after tax with shipping included. Figured Vista Home Premium and the card reader was worth it (don't care about the speakers).

Anybody know if dell has a restore partition on their systems like what HP offers where you can be back to brand new state with a few click of the mouse? Very conveniet when your system gets hosed or infested with spyware/adware/malware. Asking because I'm looking for PC for my parents and the last thing i want to do spend my free time reinstalling their stuff all the time.

If it takes you back to the factory shipped config then it will be loaded with spyware/adware/malware.

That's easily removable within couple minutes. I'm talking about adware with rootkits and stuff that takes over your PC, renders it unusable, and pretty much requires a reformat.

Heh, if I could have gotten the base setup with free shipping, I would have, just to play around with it. FWIW last year I bought a Vostro 200 just to play around with overclocking it (using BSEL method).

Compared to a 200, the 220 has a HiPRO PSU versus Bestec, the front face looks different (but same chassis) and the motherboard is different. The new board took a step back and added PS/2 ports while old one didn't. Also, new one is G45 chipset versus G33. I think the old board had 4 RAM slots, but could be wrong. New board has 2 RAM slots. Also, the Vostro 200 came with DDR2-667 while the 220 has DDR2-800.

Whoa, just noticed that the included 20" LCD is an UltraSharp model 2009WFP, not the cheap E207WFP. That just made the deal better. Tempting to buy this for the monitor and sell off the tower. EDIT: Nevermind, uses a TN panel.

Word of warning, don't add a secondary 1TB drive. Comes up as a $660 upgrade for me. :Q

This has to be a more than warm deal. You can currently get from Newegg:

E7300 for $120
G45 Mother board $85
250GB HDD $50
Windows Home Basic $80
2GB DDR2 RAM $10 (not from Newegg, but there are deals posted here for Corsair CMS 4GB for $20)
A cheap power supply and case $75

That totals $420. So essentially you are getting a good LCD display for free!

You forgot the optical drive, keyboard and mouse (mouse made by Logitech). Yeah, these are good deals if it is anywhere near what you are looking for in a pre-built system.

For dev77 and anyone else wondering, this system has two PCI slots, one PCI Express x1 slot and one PCI Express x16 slot. Don't know if this means other cards won't work in it, but Dell's tech specs page specified that the x16 was a graphics slot. The included 300W PSU (if it is anything like they used before) has four SATA power plugs and one FDD power plug, and nothing else. The chassis has two 5¼" external drive bays, one 3½" external drive bay and two 3½" internal drive bays. So, I suppose you can install a PCI or PCI Express x1 RAID card with four hard drives (removing optical drive, using adaptors for 5¼" drive bays). You can also use any PCI Express video card, though the power supply will not be able to natively support any that requires additional power. Thus, you are limited to GeForce 9500GT/8600GT, Radeon 2600XT/3650/4650/4670. Basically cards that don't need additional power.

Potentially you can overclock the included E7300 to 3.33GHz using a simple BSEL mod, as long as the CPU can run that speed at default voltage.

A tempting deal. If it only were the E227WFP screen (if it had to be TN) or an older non-TN screen...

Nice thing is you can drop the monitor, then it's only $329. So you get a Dell with an E7300, for the price they usually charge for the E2200 model.

Right, but that monitor is worth way more than $90. You should be able to re-sell it on Ebay for almost double that.
