Isn't this the sweet spot for price/performance at DELL right now? Prices may keep falling, but is this the best deal right now for price/performance you can find in a complete computer anywhere?

Dell Deal- P3-933 Desktop $519
Dell Small Business has the Dimension L P3/933 for
only $519 with free shipping TODAY only.

You have to go to the DELL site and configure it this way yourself...

Choose Desktop, Dimension L Series, Choose L,
Customize, P3-933/The OS of your choice/Works/Optional Audio & Nic/90 Days Parts, Unselect Monitor.

Came out to $519 easy as pie...

Quick question -- as far as "Small Business" goes, Dell seems to want a Company name. Has anybody done this deal? Can you "get away" with a bogus company name?

It you need any help, I can give you a fake PO too.

Tell them you sell widgets, and when they ask what a widget is... yell at the top of your lungs.

Good deal but no room for expansion. Take a look at the picture of the case. Good luck if you want to add a CDRW.

hkssupra69 - There is no special URL, just go to Dell Small Business Center, if you are interested in this particular deal then choose Desktops, Dimension L or 4100. If you can afford it, go with the 4100 it gives you the most bang for your buck.

SamanthaStevens - I would use the search feature here and at the FatWallet.com Hot Deals forums searching for Dell. You'll find that several people have done this deal in the past successfully even though they are technically not a small business. Like everyone suggests just think of a business name to use.

This is a good price though esp considering with the Dell Dimension L desktop you can choose Windows 98:SE or Windows 2000 Pro as your operating system, whatever you do please do not choose Windows ME you will regret it.

The cheapest I could make a 4100 system without the integrated B.S. was around $900. You gotta make the call on the $$$.

When ever you order something from Dell, ask the rep if it is the best price they can give you. Always works for me and my folks... We've gotten them to throw in RAM, a laptop battery, and knock off $150 on a system (all three seperate orders).

The small business people don't care if you have a company name.

Clicking on "Customize It" leads to the infamous "We're Sorry: You have asked for a page that does not exist on Dell.com" page. Too bad, it seemed like a mofo of a deal.

If you customize one of the "Popular Dimension Configuration" then you can drop the price to $539, of course it's a 700MHz celeron with only a keyboard, mouse and software. Not too hot at this point.

I would never buy a Dell. You don't have much room for upgrades and customizing/optimizing your system.

Actually Dell's have plenty of room for upgrading and customizing. It depends on which chassis you select. They sell to a lot of corporations and so offer compact / managed chassis for that market. Most businesses do not upgrade their machines (at least not in the sense I am assuming you are menaing it). If you want expansion take a look at their towers and servers. They are of higher quality and better engineered than most of the clone components (I am not talking about motherboards) you would use to assemble your own system. Additionally you would be hard pressed to put together a system of the same power and quality for $519.

Regarding custominzing: no other major manufacturer of PCs lets you customize your order as much as Dell.

Is it the right thing for your gaming rig? Probably not - but it's the right thing for most any other application.
