Dell D810 - Connecting to external display - TV.

I have a cable similar to a SVideo cable with which I am trying to connect to my TV.

The TV is in AV mode and the laptop has the cable attached and plugged in - but pressing Fn then F8 (CRT/LCD) does not show a picture on the TV - just says "Presentation Mode is: OFF - No External Display is attached" 🙁

I need some advice please. :cookie:

A TV is not an "external display" in the sense that the laptop port is designed. That means an external computer monitor.

In my experience, the only way to display on a TV is to have a TV output PCMCIA card in the laptop unless the laptop has TV built in. Few do. Then you can use a S video link S to S.

i have a dell d800 and i have no problems connecting to a tv...through the built in s-video port.

just plug it all in and then you should be able to go to the display settings and advanced, then tv should be there somewhere and you could set up a clone or extended desktop business....hope you get some luck goin
