Dell D800 laptop: Audio line-in

My sister is away at school so I do not have access to her laptop. She just got an XM radio reciever for the laptop and she can't seem to get any audio off the line in. Is there any advice some of you guys could offer. I really haven't played around with her laptop and have walked her through control panel, sound and audio device options, she doesn't see an option for line in volume(or muting). I know it is a pretty simple question and if I was in front of the laptop I know I could help her but unfortunatley I am not. Thanks in advance

She needs to go to the properties of the playcontrol/volume control. There she can switch it over to recording properties, and then she can place a check next to mic in, which is probably the port she is trying to use..then she can un mute it
