Dell D600 and 600M owners....

I have a Dell D600 and the power adapter is making this buzzing sound.... Is this normal? Any help would be appreciated. Thx

It sounds like the power adapter is failing. If you have another one available, try it. Make sure it is rated to provide the same voltage and at least as much current (if not more), and that the contact polarity (the positive and negative connections) is the same. One way to do that would be to go to a local store that has similar models and ask to try your machine on one of their adapters on the display models.

dell did have several mall kiosks. i wonder if they're still there.

I thought those were basicly a computer you could use to order a dell at the website. hrm. Guess I was wrong.

I got my D600 yesterday, and yes, the PA-12 Revision A00 AC adapter makes awful buzzing noises. I sent Dell tech support an email last night, but they never got back to me :(

The buzzing goes away when my D600 is doing something that requires more power, like lots of HDD access, CD-RW activity, or high CPU load (3DMk2001SE for example)

Hey, you ppl with the d600. Does your hdd get extremely hot? Mine does, and it makes the palm rest too warm to rest on.

mine doesn't make the noise on the power supply thing. i'd have that looked at. people on the dell forum posted about it and they fixed them somehow.
