The new commercial when the interns are leaving and they turn off the lights, and then some guy stands up in the dark shouting about how they're still there 24/7.

Well, it just bothers me. All the fvcking jobs are going to India. This marketing shot should draw great criticism, but I haven't heard anything about it.

I'm also somewhat saddened that someone like Michael Dell, who started building PC's from his college dorm room ... would promote such outsourcing. He is the idol of US business efforts ... to build an empire from nothing.

Does he not have a sense of patriotism?

I know it's about the all mighty dollar, but at some point you CAN have enough dollars ...

That commercial is a couple years old, before they outsourced their Tech Support to India.

Big business is NOT about patriotism. It's about the bottom line....how many dollars and cents you have at the end of the year.

I don't care what dell does with their tech support because I know that it sucks either way.

Their desktop support is okay but don't call on a server issue. Called once on my Domain controller they wanted me to format and restore. HA! I hung up.

They don't outsource to India they fly in Indian workers from India each night.

I can't stand the "Dell Interns". They insult my intelligence. At least Steve, the Dell Dude, had a personality. These interns are just pathetic.

And unfortunately, there are many, many US companies that have sent all of the customer nonservice to India. My wife works for GE and they have done it.

She tells me that when GE first started that, they would give the employees in India "American" names and send them to language classes to lose their Indian accents and sound more American. Not sure if they still do this.

Not all of Dell TS has gone to India, just consumer TS, so small business and enterprise to my knowledge is still stateside in Round Rock.

I can't blame Dell. If US consumers were willing to pay more to get US made products and support, Dell would offer it. The ultimate judge of this is the US consumer. Do you go to a store to buy a laptop and make sure it was made in the USA? Are you willing to pay extra 20% for one that is? The demand is there for cheap stuff made overseas, so Dell is just filling that demand.

speak for yourself. I actually had thoughts of Indian TS after seeing the commercial. Of course, I had just gotten off the phone trying to RMA my LCD monitor. Got transferred to SEVEN different people with heavy Indian accents, none who I could understand very well, before I finally got somebody to give me a service request # and send me a new one. I was on the phone for an hour and a half :disgust:
