I don't know if this has been posted yet and I'm too lazy to do a search.

www.dell.com

they are offering a free 19" monitor upgrade from a 17" one for certain systems. I just bought a dimension L and got the upgrade.

they also offer free shipping for anything: even computer systems.

both offer ends oct 11.

Thanks for posting this! I've been configuring a Dell Dimension L for my mother-in-law. There was a $100 incentive a few days ago. However, the 19" (FD Trinitron) upgrade and free shipping are a greater value than the $100 and our price dropped $163 from when I last ran the numbers on Thursday. YeeHaaaaaaw.

Jump on this one. You can also buy any of the items from Gigabuys.com (the Dell accessories store - HDDs, memory, etc). I work for Dell, and this was a fubar that someone decided to stick a pretty label on :).

Something was launched to the Dell Web site that was not supposed to be. The marketing folks decided it would cost more to pull the content (which included some other stuff), fix it, and relaunch than to just leave it there and eat the costs. So they put up some lovely advertising talk about how they love their customers so much, they decided to give them free shipping!! BTW, all forms of shipping are free, so definitely go for overnight delivery :).

notme,

Basically, I can understand what you are saying. There was a promotion of $100 off each system that was supposed to run until the 27th of October. It still looks like that incentive is still in place in addition to the free upgrade 19" (FD Trinitron) from a 17" monitor. Also, the free shipping is nice. 2nd business day delivery would have been $120 for the system I selected for my mother-in-law.

For $1029 - delivered, we got the following: Dimension "L", 566 MHz Celeron, 128 MB RAM, 10 GB 7,200 RPM drive, mini/mid-tower case, 48x cd-rom, modem, HK speakers, 19" FD monitor, Windows ME, MS Works 2000 w/Word, Norton AV, 1 year next business day on-site warranty, 1 year of AOHell for free, yada, yada, yada. I couldn't have built a system for this cheap.

Also, I found this part to be quite interesting as stated in our order confirmation: Please note that Dell Home Systems collects tax on orders delivered to Texas, Kentucky, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. We were quite happy not to pay the $85 in tax that we figured would appear -- that's right, I hate sales taxes on purchases of this nature.

Did you reconfigure your choices with MS Works instead of Office? Did you select 128 MB of SDRAM (total) or, did you add 128 MB to the current 64 MB? There could be lots of reasons for the difference. More than likely, you've selected some different items. Send me your E-mail address and I'll forward the invoice to you so you can see what we selected. My E-mail
