Hey All,
Not a HUGE fan of any large computer maker, but I have to admit I have been impressed with the Dell hinge style of opening cases. (They are a bit tricky to get open, but I love the room they offer on the inside.) Does anyone know if anyone is making a case like that without have to have a big fatty "DELL" logo/ form to your case?

Thanks...

Why didn't you just ask for suggestions about quality and roomy cases? I seriously doubt that Dell is going to sell their cases without a ginormous Del logo on them.

I've got the Thermaltake Tsunami and it's light and roomy.
I've heard that Centurion has quality big cases as well.

Funny that you say that as Compaq used that Tsunami case a few years ago in their systems before it was available to the general public.

The Tsunami is a nice case, so is the antec posted above. Neither of these is anything like a optiplex. They sorta clamshell open so you have a straight shot at the back of the drives. It's kinda cool...too bad they are such pieces of crap. I've never seen another case open like them, and I would never put up with owning such a craptastic case with or without a dell logo. It is kinda cool how they open, though.

I don't know any off the top of my head that are like the optiplex 240-280 mid tower cases. They are nice and easy to work in, especially since I've replaced over 20 motherboards with leaking caps in these style cases.

For what it's worth, dell won't be using these much longer as they are transitioning into the 620 and 520 style BTX cases.

Might be able to pick up a gutted dell on ebay and then just remove the little dell silver circle.

Does it have to look like a Dell case? There are many cases out that that have the functionality of a Dell case, even some with the little air ducts that Dell uses in their cases, but they don't necessarily look like Dell cases.

they have a huge DELL molded into the side of the case. I'm not sure if windowing the case would be an option...

Unless you REALLY want to mod the hell out of your case don't get a Dell case.

I know for certain that power/hdd LED/power LED is on a unified connector along with the front pannel USB as well so you would have to distinguish them all and seperate them to be used by a "normal" motherboard. Also if I'm not mistaken the motherboard mount holes are diffrrent than standard hole pattern. And also the rear IO pannel connector is rivited to the case I beleive.

I have a Dell PowerEdge 420SC barebone which is that type of case with mobo/PSU/heatsync/floppy PM me if you'd be intrested in that as it is much less work to make it functional.
