Dell C600 - Power jack receptacle

Hello -

I have a C600 that seems to have a problem charging. I have determined that it is because the female plug receptacle has a short or something. If I jiggle it, sometimes I will get AC power, but sometimes not....more often not these days.

This is part of the motherboard - do I need to replace the entire motherboard? If so, is it relatively easy? I have built my own desktops, but never taken a laptop apart. Straightforward or online instructions.

Can I send it to someone that can just replace the receptacle?

Thanks

Paul

it might jsut be able to be resoldered, but its not always that easy, it CAN be beyond repair where it would need a new MB, i have worked on the C600 series a great deal and i can say they are relatively easy to change. PM me if you want to go into this further

Thanks for the reply - I did send you a PM...

Does anyone know of any online disassembly instructions so I don't end up messing something up as I try to take it apart?

Thanks!

i havnt received a PM... weird, usually they are instant here, i can throw together a guide relatively easily for you from memory, might take a lil while, but really theres only 4 major parts

Screen assy, top body case, bottom body case, and motherboard assembly, all the rest is like RAM, mini PCI cards (if any), cpu, heatsink, hard drive and removable media drives
