Dell C500 Latitude Laptop doesn't see new Samsung HDD

Bought a new Samsung 40 GB internal hard rive for my Dell Latitude C500 laptop to replace the original 10 GB drive. BIOS does not see the drive, nor do the Samsung utilities to format and partition the drive.

Cannot find a BIOS setup panel that shows HDD settings, or allow manual searches or data entry.

Any suggestions?

DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THERE WAS A CONNECTOR AT THE END OF THE DRIVE.
