Dell Billing issue

When does Dell charge customer Credit Cards for online orders? I ordered a laptop last week, and it was shipped on Friday 3/24. My credit card which I provided online has yet to be charged.

Note: My card was initially declined as the transaction exceeded the daily limit on my credit card (actually a check card). After my bank temporarily increased my daily limit I called Dell and was told that the transaction was now approved and production would begin on my order. My concern is that if Dell?s policy is to bill upon delivery then the transaction will again be declined as my bank has subsequently restored my daily limit to its original level.

I haven't called Dell yet because I am holding on to the extremely remote chance that I will never be billed for this transaction.

Thank you for any info you can provide.

Yes, I will inevitably call them. At any rate does Dell typically bill when an order is placed or when it is delivered?

Thanks.

They normally bill and place all charges at time of order. I ordered my laptop from them and they charged my card just before it was shipped.

They seem to be having a number of issues. One chap at another forum had a monitor replaced. Dell never asked for the old one back and apparently never billed him for it either. Last I read, he was planning to sell it on ebay. Probably not a good move, but it does show some disarray in the book keeping dept.

Well, I have contacted my bank regarding the issue. It seems that until Dell requests payment I am under no obligation (other than an ethical obligation) to contact them.

After my credit card was initially declined, I called Dell to resolve the matter. The women asked if I would like her to run my card while I was on the phone and I said yes. After a minute she informed me that everything was fign and my order could now proceed.

So I made the funds available and Dell simply failed to collect. Before they can send this to collections they must contact me, inform me of their mistake and request payment.

My order is estimated to arrive this Wednesday.
