Searched and didn't find so here goes.
OK, ripped from FW but the only way I found out was I was looking at Hotdeals under Dell and I found this. Thought it might be good for the many ATers who have bought Dell Laptops. I am posting this here, so please no whining about this not being a hot deal. We'll let the mods take care of that if it is. I am also posting this in Notebooks forum.

The recalled batteries were sold with the following Dell notebook computers: LatitudeTM D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800, D810; InspironTM 510M, 600M, 6000, 8600, 9200, 9300, XPS Gen 2; and Dell PrecisionTM M20 and M70 mobile workstations.

My Dad has a Dell Inspiron 6000 purchased last Christmas. I'll have to check his battery to see if it's part of this recall.

Thanks for the info!

Nothing like hot, burning, battery acid leaking onto your lap while you're surfing the web. Yikes!

A friend bought a 9300, but I'm not sure if it's in that date range. I'll forward the page on to him.

Mine had part of the S/N listed amongst the recall but I entered my full number and it wasnt part of the recall. Oh well. Makes sense since I never noticed a overheat at the battery section (plugged into the wall and without the adapter)

Actually, these are lithium-graphite batteries. The lithium burns at over a thousand degrees fareinhight.

I'd rather have the acid. At least you'd have legs.

Darn, doesn't cover my C400 laptop battery. Only lasts me 15 minutes, just too cheap to go buy a new one. :(
