I used to order quite often through Dell's EPP Program.
Good deals through home and an extra 7 percent off that and everything else.

Well, now no 7 percent off and the few "deals" were the same as in Home, but presented a little different but the same pricing.

I'm guessing they don't want business.

they lost their Intel subsidy. Intel paid them $6 billion over a period of years to not use AMD. more in the "CPUs and Overclocking" section.

Yes...employee purchase program...if you are an employee of a company that buys from dell, they had offerings where you could save money buying from them through this program.

Boohoo, it got abused like crazy (yes I did as well). It undermined Dell's own pricing contracts, so it makes sense that they'd stop it.

Most companies have their own deal with Dell, and the EPP was separate from that. I was always confused that they even allowed the EPP to people who fell under a separate plan. Of course the other plan was never really a discount if you knew how Dell ran deals, but those days are long gone anyways.

They had some really good deals. I bought some monitors from Dell EPP. Through EPP I got 35% off + the 7% off.

I haven't seen deals on Dell's EPP site for a few years. The discounts only seem to be for extended warranties.

Dell has really screwed themselves lately. We're a Dell reseller (we don't do much business with them anymore) and our pricing was HIGHER than what they charged the general public. Their reasoning is that we're supposed to sell the equipment at a loss and make it up on the value-added services, like installing the system.

HAH! Needless to say, we've switch to HP which offers better systems at a lower price, zero shipping costs, and we can make money on the hardware.

For a one-man shop working out of his garage, Dell's plan might be ok. But we were at one point doing well over a million dollars per year with Dell as resellers. At first, it wasn't as bad. Then they started firesaling everything about 2 years ago and our customers were coming to us asking why they could get the same thing from Dell for $150 less. We asked Dell's regional sales manager about it and she said "that's the way it is, the best we can do is match".

As a result, I don't buy Dell anymore and I don't even recommend it.

Ah yes, EPP. I got my M1330 a couple years ago with $450 off (or something like that, their once per quarter sale), FW cash back, EPP, a coupon, and a "special" where the 4 year full warranty was $99. I ended up paying something like $1200 for what started out about $2300.
