I looked at this deal last night when I got the email. I swear that it had only a DVD drive last night and not a CDRW/DVD like it does now. It wouldn't matter if Dell would have just thrown IDE capability onto that motherboard...

I wouldn't say it's a hot deal, but it's pretty decent.

They've also got the C521 for $479. It's not a "one day" deal. If I recall correctly, it has all the same specs except you get XP Home, a 19-inch monitor, a DVD-R, and the compact case. Link to that deal

So is it pure SATA? I'd like to use my own IDE DVD-RW drives.
I've got some old like Promise IDE controller cards. Will that work for my optical drives?

Nope. Don't even bother trying to use any kind of PATA drives in this system.

Promise IDE card will work, wtf. Dunno about Vista, but it works in my P965 board with a ****** jMicron IDE controller I can't use because it's stupidly broken. Granted, I only used it for an hour to transfer files off an IDE drive, but..

Video options are an integrated nVidia chip or an ATi PCIe card. I was wondering if the mobo is the same for either option? So if I choose the integrated option, I can add a nice card?

Yes, same motherboard.

Remember though, the case design will NOT allow for a dual slot video card, period. Single slot video cards ONLY. However, the original power supply is plenty to run a 7950 GT card, or a single slot X1950 Pro. Just need a 4pin to 6pin adapter because there will only be one free 4pin connection.
