Dell currently employs about 7,000 to 8,000 staff in India, Dell President and CEO Kevin Rollins told reporters during a visit to Bangalore.

Dell is turning from a PC company to a broad-based IT supply company, Rollins said. However, while Dell has been offering managed services, its strategy is to offer only services that relate to its hardware business. It does not plan to offer the broader range of services that some of its competitors offer, such as business process outsourcing and large outsourced IT contracts, Rollins said.

Ugh, it sucks that no matter how much people hate dealing with Dell support in India they keep buying Dell computers. It really sucks that HP doesn't try to make push to oust Dell. I bet if HP sold and ran their stuff at a loss for a year or 2 to get a strong enough base, that they would take a good chunk of change from Dell.

I'm happy with the arrangement, one of my cousins back home (in India) actually works for Dell... I also have a few relatives working in Citibank and British Airways. Hurray for outsourcing.

cool. hopefully he speaks understandable English if he is going to be speaking on the phone and trying to troubleshoot computers for people who speak English.
