My 2005FPW has a defect.

I called Dell, spoke with Americans (ie native English) the whole time.

They're OVERNIGHTING me a new monitor.

Not bad at all.

Most RMAs SUCK from what I've seen.

Dell does it as well as it can be done.

Overnight replacement.

Keep your old until you get the new.

I needed a new mobo in my laptop. DELL had someone out here less than 24-hours after I emailed them.

A lot of people say Dell's support is no good, although I haven't had to deal with them myself. Maybe their monitor division does things differently. Actually, it seems that some of the monitor companies are far ahead of the others as far as support and RMA procedures go. The best support and RMAs I have seen are from NEC, with next day delivery, advance replacement and shipping paid both ways, and whenever I called them there was never any wait and all the tech support people spoke fluent English. If only motherboard and video card companies would do things this way.

Dell's support has been going downhill. Whether you call laptops or desktops or order crew, they're slow as sh!t. I know from personal experience.

This summer I had to deal with a broken HD for my laptop and shipping troubles for my 7800GT. Wasted at least 5 - 6 hrs of my time.

It's all luck with Dell. One day you're getting overnighted a hard drive, the next you're on the phone for 3 hours trying to describe what an EIDE cable is to a girl named Hahbina.

Dell sent me a rebate check for my laptop purchase ($200) with a typo. Call Dell CS, a day later Dell credited $200 back to my account and asked me to destroy the check. As far as RMA. Not an issue so far. I'll buy from them anytime.
But when it comes to technical support...It's a whole different ball game

It may have been because I purchased the monitor through the small business section

Me too, worst customer service ever. They ended up shipping me a free computer bag by accident. I spend 5 hours over 15 days trying to correct them and they never got it right. Don't get me wrong. I love my laptop, it's fantastic, but the Indian Customer Serivice I recieved was simply embarassing. Seeing as it was only the same 3 reps I was getting over and over I'm sure it's not all the same, I'm just saying the people I was working with were less than helpful.
