dell 9300 or bust?

750 - 1000 budget.

using this as my desktop replace, i loved playing games on my x1000 just dont know if i can play games o nthis as well.

Depends upon what games you want to play. As a general rule it will cost you a fair amount more to get a laptop that is as capable as playing games as a desktop is capable of doing. If you're able to get in on Ross's coupon deal then I would upgrade it to a gig of RAM and the GeForce 66002Go. However you better be sure you're up bright and early with the mouse ready to click the order button once the coupon is valid because I'm sure there are plenty of people wanting to get in on that deal.

First of all wrong forum

If you don't mind the size/weight of the 9300 (remember it is a desktop replacement) then YES I would buy it.

$1,599 base price

1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr At-Home Service, and 1Yr Technical Support [add $69 or $3/month1]

60GB Hard Drive [add $29 or $1/month1]

24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive [add $29 or $1/month1]

9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (80 WHr) [add $99 or $3/month1] Extra On-The-Go Power

128MB ATIs? Mobility Radeon? X300

$1,775 after the above upgrades

-$750

============================
$1,025

Without the $750 coupon you'd be paying around $1,425 (with current $300 off promo) so you're saving an additional $450

Get a longer warranty and the 256MB NVIDA® GeForce? Go 6800 video card if you can afford it.

Uh Ross don't forget the RAM upgrade. He's going to need it with only 256 megs in the default configuration. Sure you don't have to buy it from Dell but it needs to be factored into the equation.

True, forgot to mention that. Get RAM from NewEgg but I had (assumed) everyone here would know that.

Thanks for pointing that out 🙂

also, what about the XPS Gen2, is the coupon good for that as well?

There are so many posts on this subject. Just look in the hot deals forum...

You'll have plenty of time to read up on it before the deal goes live...

kermalou,

Did you get your order in within the first 52 minutes before this went dead?

Specs and price?
