Dell 9300 Flippin out

My friend recently purchased a 9300 for school. After he got it he put all of the music on the hard drive but now Media Player will recognize the music but for some reason wont play it. Any ideas?

Yesterday he tried to burn a disc using the DVD/CD-RW drive that he has but it wouldn't work. I tried looking for the drivers online but all i found were the DVD and DVD/RW drivers. Any idea where those are?

I'm telling him to just format the hard drive and put a fresh installation of XP on the PC, but he claims that he doesn't have the disc from dell that would allow him to do that. He's also claiming that if anyone w/o an A+ certification does anything to the laptop, then the warranty will be voided. BS or truth?

Dell should have shipped him a CD (my iXPS2 came with one)... but if not, on the HDD itself there is a small section that is devoted entirely as a recovery CD. You can create a recovery CD through Start > Accessories > Dell, and i believe there's an option there. And you can also do it straight from Bootup as well. I don't remember how myself, since i wiped out the HDD in my first 2 min of ownership, and that includes the recovery partition.

As for voiding his warranty. Warranty won't be voided unless a technican replaces the parts, then the parts that's been replaced aren't warrantied (ie, replacing the ram or screen. Rest of the computer will be under warranty except for the ram or screen). If your friend is this stupid and unwilling to take your advice, why do you even care?
