I have a Dell 9150 and am looking to upgrade the memory in it. This is my first time using ddr2. It seems you can put either 533 or 667 in it. Will the performance increase much if you use 667? I am pretty sure I have 533 now (2x 512mb). Is performance not as good with 4x 512mb compared to 2x 1gb? I thought I heard previously that some of the amd chips just before venice didn't do as well with more than 2 sticks of ram.

Thank you for your time and help in advance!

The ram is only going to run as fast as the FSB so putting in higher rated ram won't change anything if the FSB stays the same.

It seems like everything I have read says as long as you don't mix it with 533, then it can run at 667? Does that mean the dell mobo automatically ups the fsb, or don't the ram and fsb run in sync?

Thanks

Does anybody know if higher timings on 667 is better than the tighter timings on 533? So far someone has told me that with the p4 2.8 dual core that i have (820) it does better with the wider bandwidth of the 667. Is that true?

Thanks!
