It's either screwed on or clamped on somehow. It's impossible to tell from the pics.
Have you tried looking in the Dell documentation?

I have removed a Dell 4550 heatsink in the past and all that was required was flipping one clamp lever. You might want to look for a clamp of some sort in your Dell.

Mission completed. I have to say though, people love to hate on Dell but that heatsink is very impressive with the copper bottom, heat pipes and large fins, and it was SO EASY to take off! Very nice job Dell!
