ok, my laptop works great, except, when i plug in the s-video to the tv, it only shows up the desktop, no icons, nothing but the desktop background, i tryed to play with the settings, but no luck, any help would be nice, 8600, 768 ram, 1.4 cpu, centrino, and the gforce 128mb video card, ao2 bios, do you think i need to update the bios?

Do you see your mouse cursor?
I had problems with my 8500 doing the same thing, my problem is that the lcd is a widescreen, and the tv isn't. I had to shuffle my screen around to find the icons etc. Still didn't do movies properly. I got an answer from Dell tech support, I will see if I still have the print out somewhere.

yes i can see my mouse move, it is like the tv is another monitor, but it isn't the same as mine, it acts like my lappy and my tv is all one monitor, i just want it to be the same as my lappy, instead of haveing to drag the window over to my tv screen

You've told it to extend the desktop, from the regular display properties - you need to go into the advanced display properties and use the ATI displays control panel bit to tell it to clone the LCD monitor instead of extending it.

Abhi, you are correct, voodle, i have a gforce card, not an ATI i have tryed to uncheck the "entend to desktop from the control panel, but then it unativates my tv, when i reactivate the tv, it checks itself automatically, what do you think i should do Abhi?

Geforce... cool .. i got a 4200 ... Do this...

1) Connect the TV. Uncheck the extend my desktop option.
2) Go to Displa Properties-> Settings -> Advanced
3) Click the "Geforce" Tab.
4) Choose Nview display mode in the left pane..
5) Choose "Clone"

This should work..
