Dell 8500 Order Update - backordered until mid November

Wasn't put on hold too long (this time, only 10 minutes). Ordered my 8500 on 10/2 so I'd imagine I'm somewhere up at the front of the queue. Date was pushed back to 10/29... then to 10/18. Obviously didn't ship on 10/18.

Spoke to a Dell rep today and there is a note on the item in the system (dated 10/10) that the 8500's are backordered and not expected to be delivered from ATI until mid-November.

Thought y'all might appreciate that.

why in the world would it take them so long to get those cards to dell? are they having problems producing them in volume? i mean there are oems out....i don't understand. we already know that the card has driver issues, so why not just let people have their cards instead of making them wait and wait?

Kind of funny. I can drive 3 miles and get one @ CompUSA or Best Buy tonight, of course with sales tax it will probably be $110 more. Maybe they realized they were selling them @ a loss. Trying to discourage us from sticking with the purchase.

I'm waiting until the Gainward GF3 Ti550 Golden hits the market. If no 8500 from Dell, hello Gainward.

lol... it's kinda funny for me... The first hour or so after newegg sent a notification to everybody that newegg had thier 8500's in, I was sitting around thinking "Well if newegg has em now, then dell has to have em anytime soon"... So I decided that I would stick with my dell order. Hah. That lasted about ten minutes. I quickly ordered off newegg and though "I am such an impatient idiot. Watch dell will ship thiers to everyone tomorrow"... Gee, I guess I was wrong, and that's a good thing!

I feel sorry for you guys that don't have yours yet... I know that I would be spinning in circles. But I would hang in there. You definately got a great deal on a great card.
