is this a problem? or is this like how large CRTs have those rows across them?

I am noticing a column of "dead" pixels - not staying one color, they just dont look right. its right above the 8-9 keys.

anyone else have this or should I call dell and wait an hour to try to get a replacement.

they say that up to 5 or so dead pixels are normal. I have 1 dead (always black) and 1 stuck (red on black bkgrnd, mostly normal otherwise) on my dell 600m.

a whole column? thats not normal. Call up dell, if they don't help you out, send it back before your 30 days (from the date they shipped it, not you recieved) are up.

look on the bright side, if you return it maybe you can pick up a 8600...

If it is a whole column, or row, of pixels then you should be able to get a replacement LCD. If it is just some uneven brightness along the bottom of the LCD, then you are taking a chance that the next one will have the same problem plus downtime.
