Dell 8300 multiple HD issue

I just bought a Dell 8300 & I put my old 60GB UDMA/133 drive in it in addition to the 80GB drive that came with it.

Looking in IDE Primary channel listing in the hardware manager, it says that the second drive is only working at PIO speed, vs. the UDMA 5 speed of the first drive.

What gives? The 8300 has an 875-based motherboard.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt, try setting it to UDMA manually, if you haven't yet. Also check the jumpering and if the Dell's drive is set for Cable Select, set yours that way too.

The drive was set to off in the BIOS & the Dell drive was on cable select.

This also explains why it was taking so long to burn CDs!

Thanks guys!
