Dell 8300 cooling

I have a 8300 with a Prescott 3.0ghz (i've heard this thing is HOT, it does feel that way) and a ATI 9800 Pro video card. The system is not overclocked. There are 2 exhaust fans (CPU fan and PSU fan) plus a tiny fan on the ATI GPU. Are the stock cooling enough or do I need to modify it? Anyone experienced overheat with this system? I haven't experienced problems but still concern about possible heat issure. Also, how to check the temperature. Tried several software (MB monitor, sandtra, etc.) and couldn't get CPU and case temps.

<sarcasm>Of course you need better cooling. Dell's philosophy is to ship out systems that overheat and constantly reboot due to heat issues.</sarcasm>

It's fine. Dell somehow manages to keep everything cool AND quiet. The best of both worlds. 🙂

For temps, try Aida32. That should work fine with a Dell. I know it works on my Dell servers and workstations.

Thanks for your info. I know that Motherboard Monitor can check temps on a dell 400sc, but not 8300. I'll try Aida32 to see it works.

It's thermally controlled. If your system overheats the fans crank up to full speed and the processor will throttle down.
