Dell 8300 - Case Recommendation

Is it possible to gut my Dell 8300 case and buy a better case with a 500 watt PS?
Also, what cases do you recommend?

Dell's cases are very good.. My question is teh reverse. Can you fit an ATX board in a Dell case??

I guess what I am looking for is a quieter Case Fan and quieter power supply that will fit in the dell, I was under the assumption that no other power supply would fit.

I have a Prescott 3.2 with 1 Meg Cache / 3 Video Cards / Audigy 2 Pro / 1.5 GB Ram / SCSI and so on. Just looking to have a little overkill on power.

It is possible to gut, no need for a 500 watt'r, and the Antec solution series/Sonata are nice, cool well, and inexpensive. 350/400W will do dandy.

Yes and Yes. Are ya gonna oc a lot? If not go Nexus/Yate low cfm'ers. If you are oc'ing then go with this--> http://www.directron.com/fba12g12h1a.html --> use SpeedFan 4.20, and connect it to your mobo's chassis fan connector provided you have one. With SpeedFan you can set your Pannie to run at low rpms while idle (surfin etc..) and when you go to game, when the temp hits your predefined setting, then it ramps up to whatever speed you set it for. Best of both worlds: silence and tornadic cooling power. I am a silence freak mind you so if this sounds too complicated then get a 120mm that pushes atleast 50-60 cfm's. What cpu/hsf ya got? P4@? Prescott?

correct me if I'm wrong but if you swap out the Dell PSU, you're gonna have to take out the Dell mobo too.

Last I heard, non-dell PSUs don't play nice with Dell mobos and vice versa.

If I were to gut the Dell Motherboard, what motherboard could I get that would suffice for overclocking the prescott 3.2, if this is even possible.

Was not the case for me and my 3 different PSU's I put in my DIM 8250 at all.

There are so many choices and you can oc, but be prepared for some high thermals lol. www.newegg.com (socket 478)
