Dell 8250 not faster than 8100?

I upgraded my 8100 1.5gig to an 8250 3.06gig and it doesn't seem any faster. Does hyperthreading need twice as much ram?

No it dosent need twice as much RAM. You would not noticed the speed difference if you didn't encode or play games I think. You also have to reinstall Windows to enable Hyper-Threading.

Both Intel Frquency ID and System properties show 2 processors, so I assume it's set up right. After a couple of days I see some improvement when installing programs to get it to my specs.
