Dell 8250 IDE problem, Thanks!!! Please help

If I install one HD on Prim IDE, it is UDMA mode 5. Interesting thing is that if I put 2 HDs in the Prim IDE slot, both show me UDMA mode 2. Anyone has some idea about it?

And the CD-ROM always shows me UDMA mode 2(I think maybe the Dell CD-ROM only support UDMA mode 2). But I can't understand the HDs!!!

Two Hard drives: Maxtor ATA133 7200 30GB
Maxtor ATA133 7200 80GB
80 wires cable

i have this same problem on the 4550 i just got. i tried a few different drives, but always the same result.

does anyone have any ideas?
